Product Review: Almondina® Biscuits and a Giveaway

If you haven't noticed, I don't write many product reviews. Mainly because I'm REALLY picky about whom I choose to work with. I will not share anything here on my blog that I don't personally like, believe in or care about. It wouldn't be honest and that's an important part of who I am and what makes me tick. So when Almondina® contacted me recently to try their biscuits and share them with my readers, I had to do a little research first before I agreed since I had never heard of them before.

What are Almondina® Biscuits?
Almondina® are a unique, gourmet cookie, health food and snack, all in one. These extraordinary gourmet treats are created from Yuval Zaliouk's secret family recipe which has been passed down from generation to generation and was introduced to the market in 1989. It is wonderfully crunchy and is a delightful accompaniment for coffee, tea, soft cheeses and fine light wines. What I really liked was that Almondina® Biscuits are all natural, made with no added fat or salt, are low in calories (only 30 per slice), free of cholesterol, coloring and preservatives and are Kosher and Pareve (non dairy).

How it all began…

Almondina® is the inspiring success story of a man whose great loves include both music and wonderful food. For generations his family loved his grandmother Dina’s most secret cookie, which she called Petit Gateau Sec. Yuval Zaliouk, an internationally known symphony conductor and gourmet chef, always had a special place in his heart (and stomach) for this exquisite, crispy wafer with the delicate flavor of roasted almonds and the natural sweetness of plump raisins.

Long after his grandmother’s death, Zaliouk became aware that the remarkable characteristics of this addictively delicious but extremely nutritious cookie fell squarely in line with the growing demands of health-conscious buyers at the end of the century. Within seven years having started baking in his kitchen, the cookies, renamed Almondina® for his grandmother, were available in all fifty states, sought after in seven foreign countries, and had brought him recognition as Entrepreneur of the Year. 

The Verdict...

When I received my trial package, the biscuits were neatly wrapped in protective bubble wrap coating and included the following sample packages; though they offer a much wider variety including yogurt covered biscuits as well.  

• Original - America's all natural favorite with almonds and raisins
• Chocolate Cherry - We combined the world's finest dark chocolate with plump cherries to produce an irresistible, decadent treat without guilt.
• Choconut - Rich tasting crunchy chocolate, but low in calories
• Cinnaroma® - The original biscuit for cinnamon lovers
• Gingerspice - Trend setting, with chunks of Australian ginger
• AlmonDuo® - Double-nut wonder with almonds and pistachios

My family LOVED each of the flavors; however, our favorites were The Original, AlmonDuo and these Chocolate Cherry biscuits...so rich and chocolatey, they really helped curb my chocolate craving! All of the biscuits were crisp and crunchy and no matter which one I tried, you could really taste the signature flavor in every bite. I literally had to hide the box so my kids didn't eat them all before I had a chance to tell you all about them..they're THAT good! I especially liked that they are all natural and cholesterol free; especially since I recently found out that my cholesterol is elevated.
